Marios Iliopoulos (Greek: Μάριος Ηλιόπουλος; born 18 September 1966) is a Greek shipowner and businessman. He is the co-founder and owner of the Greek ferry company Seajets[3][4] and the controlling shareholder of the Greek football club AEK Athens F.C.[5] In 2019, the High Court of London ruled that Iliopoulos had orchestrated the destruction of the tanker Brillante Virtuoso in a case of insurance fraud.[6]
Iliopoulos was born on 18 September 1966 in Psychiko, a suburb of Athens, the son of Panagiotis and Despoina Iliopoulos. He had two brothers, Yiannis (died 2017) and Antonis.[7] He attended Athens College.[8]
