Matthew 15:23 is a verse in the fifteenth chapter of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament.

In the original Greek according to Westcott-Hort, this verse is:

In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads:

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

The New International Version translates the passage as:

Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us."

Analysis

Christ made no reply, probably to test her great virtue. Some have postulated that perhaps He wanted to avoid giving His enemies a pretext for accusing Him of having violated His own instructions to His Apostles, to not go to the Gentiles, having done the miracle by moral necessity.[1][2]
