McD.L.T.

Discontinued McDonald's hamburger From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The McD.L.T. was a hamburger sold by the international fast-food chain McDonalds. It was sold in styrofoam packaging[1] with one compartment for the patty and the bottom bun, and another for the lettuce, tomato, American cheese, pickles, sauces, and top bun. The consumer was then expected to finalize preparation of the hamburger by combining both sides just prior to eating.[2]

The McD.L.T. was introduced in 1985 and discontinued in 1990 due to environmental concerns over its styrofoam packaging.[3][4]

Marketing and media

Marketing for the McD.L.T. used the tagline "keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool."[5] A 1985 television commercial for the McD.L.T. featured Jason Alexander.[6][7] Other commercials featured Aretha Franklin, Jerry Butler, and Janet Hubert.[8] In 2025, Al Roker claimed he wished McDonald's would bring back the McD.L.T.[9]
