As of 2026[update], the act is partly in force in England and Wales.[3] The sections of the act still in force require that Parliament hold a session at least once every three years.
Subsequent developments
Sections 3 and 4 of the act were repealed by section 1 of, and the schedule to, the Statute Law Revision Act 1867 (30 & 31 Vict. c. 59), which came into force on 15 July 1867.[4]
The whole act was repealed for the Republic of Ireland by section 3 of, and schedule 1 to, the Electoral Act 1963, which came into force on 9 December 1963.
