Mercer Edward Timmis (born January 19, 1994) is a Canadian former professional football running back in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted in the second round, 14th overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2016 CFL draft and played three seasons for the team before finishing his career with the Toronto Argonauts.[1] He played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos. Timmis graduated from the Haskayne School of Business in 2018 and has since returned to the University of Calgary to pursue a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law.[2]

University statistics

Timmis played CIS football for the Calgary Dinos from 2012 to 2015.[3] In 2013, he broke the Canada West record for rushing touchdowns in a season (18), total touchdowns in a season (19), and was named the Canada West MVP.[4] He scored the most touchdowns in Dinos history and was a three-time CIS first team All-Canadian.[5] After the 2015 CIS season, he was ranked as the seventh best player in the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau December rankings for players eligible in the 2016 CFL draft and third by players in Canadian Interuniversity Sport.[6]
