Minim (or Minim II, or Menim) is a village in the commune of Martap, in the department of Vina, in the Adamawa Region, Cameroon. The village contains Cameroon's main source of bauxite.[2]
Economy
Along with Ngaoundal, Minim is part of a large project to mine the bauxite of the Adamawa Plateau.[4][5] Covering an area of 1000 km2, the deposit represents an important component of the Adamawa plateau and the gentle slopes which surround it make it easy to access.[6] Studies of feasibility and environmental impact were carried out[6] and a mining development plan was completed in May 2016.[7] Financing for the construction of a facility for refining the bauxite into aluminium and for transport infrastructure is still outstanding.[8][9]
The metre gauge railway line and many of its bridges are being upgraded.
