Minnal FM (Tamil: மின்னல்) is a Malaysian state owned Indian language radio station, owned and operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia.[1] Most of the shows on the station are aired in Tamil. The channel airs songs in Malayalam, Hindi and Telugu. The station was the first 24-hour Indian language broadcast service in the world, serving as a source of information and entertainment for Malaysian Indians.
The station's name means "thunder" in Tamil. The name was given by then-Minister of Works Samy Vellu.[2]
