Moda Tharindu (Sinhala: මෝඩ තරිඳු) is a 2025 Sri Lankan Sinhalese comedy horror film directed and produced by Thisara Imbulana for Thisara Imbulana Films & Villa19.[3][4][5][6] The film stars Soorya Dayaruwan in titular role, where Dhanuka Dilshan, Kaushalya Fernando, Shanudrie Priyasad, Shehani Kahandawala and Xavier Kanishka made supportive roles.[7][8]

Production

The film marks second cinema direction by Thisara Imbulana,[5] who previously directed the 2011 drama film Nino Live.[3] Imbulana also made story and screenplay along with Thisara Mangala Bandara. Cinematography handled by Hasitha Warnasuriya and editing done by Chandana Prasanna.[13] Thushari Fernando, Hasitha Warnasuriya, Dinesh Gamage, Nandasena Imbulana and Thisara Mangala Bandara are the executive producers.[7]

Udara Chinthaka is the art director, and Sudhira Chandrasena is the costume designer. Lakshitha Madhuranga Fonseka involved as assistant sound editor and dialogue editor, whereas Sasika Ruwan Marasinghe as sound designer and sound mixer. Hirusha Pathirana handled visual effects and Bawantha Gamage is the colorist. Choreography done by Kavindu Madushan and color coordination done by Bhawantha Gamage.[7]

Set design handled by Chamara Niroshan and visual effects by Hirusha Pathirana. Line production is handled by Uditha Lakmal Kahandawa Arachchi, production supervision by Sameera Bandara, production management by Sasith Devinda, and assistant direction by Thisara Mangala Bandara. Music directed by Dinesh Gamage, lyrics penned by Manuranga Wijesekara and Nisal Gamage.[7][3]

Release

Special media screening of the film was held on 27 September 2025 at Tharangani cinema.[3] The premiere of the film was held at the PVR Cinemas in Colombo on 10 October 2025.[14][15] The film received huge popularity, where 85 screenings have been housefull in the first three days.[16] The 100-day celebration of the film was celebrated at the Eagle Lakeside Hotel in Attidiya in February 2025.[17]

The film is also set to screen from November onwards to Sri Lankan community in the countries including: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Malta, Italy, Qatar, Bahrain, Dubai, Norway, England, South Korea, Japan, America, Wales and France.[18][19]

The Tamil dubbed version "Muttal Tharindu" was released island wide from 27 February 2026.[20][21]
