Mohamed Salleh Ismael

Mohamed Salleh bin Ismael (7 July 1917 – 31 January 1973) was the second Inspector-General of Police of Malaysia, and the first Asian and ethnic Malay to hold the position,[1] taking office on 29 March 1966.[2] His predecessor was Claude Fenner. His work resulted in the "Salleh System", as well as the National Police Cadets and the Police Volunteer Reserve.

Before being promoted to inspector-general, he was also Federal Police Secretary to the Commissioner of Police (from 31 August 1957), Deputy Commissioner of Police (1 April 1961 – 31 March 1962), Director of Police Affairs (1 April 1962 – 12 July 1962), Commissioner of Police, Federation of Malaya (13 July 1962 – 8 February 1966).
