Dennis Mac Donald of AllMusic gave More Sounds of Christmas a 4 out of 5 stars rating. He proclaimed "Again hampered by strings on too many cuts, on the plus side, this does contain the ultra-cool original, 'Eggnog,' featuring Lewis on celeste".[3]
