Mário Alberto Perini (born in 1943) is a Brazilian linguist known mainly for his work on the description of Brazilian Portuguese.[1][2] He is professor emeritus at the Federal University of Minas Gerais;[3] he has also taught at the University of Illinois and at the University of Mississippi.[4][5] In 2021, Perini was elected Honorary Member of the Brazilian Linguistics Association.[6]
