NGC 2423

NGC 2423 is an open cluster in Puppis. It was discovered on March 19, 1786 by William Herschel. It contains 50-60 stars.[2] NGC 2423-3 is a red giant star contained in the cluster. It is located near Messier 47 and Messier 46. NGC 2423 has no actual connection to either of these, being located 943 parsecs away from M 47.[3]
