Nalanda Sampath Ellawala (26 March 1967[1] 11 February 1997) was a Sri Lankan politician. He was assassinated in 1997 aged 29.

Nalanda Sampath Ellawala was born 26 March 1967, to the Radala Ellawala family from Ratnapura. His family was active in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, his father Nanda Ellawala, a member of parliament for Ratnapura (19701977), and his mother Surangani Ellawala, later served as the Governor of the Central Province (20152016).[2] His father was a cousin of Sirimavo Bandaranaike who was a Prime Minister of Ceylon while another aunt Viollet Ellawala was married to John Hercules Meedeniya, Rate Mahatmaya, uncle of Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Sri Lanka. Nalanda Ellawala studied at S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia.
