Niaz Alam

Niaz Alam is a responsible investment consultant and journalist. He served as a director on the board of the London Pensions Fund Authority from 2001 to 2010,[1] having been appointed as an adviser on Responsible Investment and human rights issues.[2]

Since 2013, he has been a member of the editorial board of Dhaka Tribune for which he is an op-ed columnist,[3] London bureau chief[4] and former Chief Editorial Writer.[5]

He was an elected vice chair and trustee of the international development charity War on Want from 2000 to 2007.[6]

In 2009, he resigned as an external member of the BBC's Appeals Advisory Committee to protest the BBC's refusal to broadcast a Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) appeal for humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.[7]

Since 1992, after training as a solicitor, Alam has worked and written widely on responsible investment,[8][9][10] ethical business[11] and corporate responsibility issues.[12][13] Since 2013, he has been a member of the editorial board of Dhaka Tribune for which he is an op-ed columnist,[3] London bureau chief[4] and former chief editorial writer.[5]
