Biography

Bettan was born in Ra'anana to a French Jewish family, his parents having immigrated from Grenoble, France, to Israel with his two older brothers.[2][3][4] He is fluent in Hebrew, French and English.[4]

Music career

Bettan began his music career at the end of his military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and, in 2018, came in third place on the program "Aviv or Eyal".[4] In 2021, he began working on his debut album and released several successful singles, such as "Ahavot leYom Ehad", "Ba'ir Sheli" and "KO".[5]

In 2022 and 2023, Bettan released new songs and his debut album, "Me'al HaMayim," featuring the single "Buba," which reached third place on the Galgalatz radio charts.[6][7] In 2023, he also released "Sakin BaLev" and "Lahzor HaBaita."

In 2024, Bettan participated in tribute projects and released the single "Pokeach Einayim," based on a poem by an Israeli soldier, Yaron Oree Shay, who was killed in the October 7 attacks.[4] In 2025, he released the singles "Madame" and "Sheva Dakot Be-Gan Eden."

In January 2026, Bettan won the twelfth season of the program Rising Star (HaKokhav HaBa), and thus became the Israeli representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.[8][9] His entry for the event, "Michelle", was released on 5 March, and included Israel's representative from the previous year, Yuval Raphael, as a co-writer.[10][11][12][13] Speaking ahead of the contest about representing Israel amidst controversy over the country's participation due to the Gaza war, Bettan said “It’s entering the lion’s den,” adding “But I can say that seeing those few Israeli flags in the audience — you look at that, and you know that you have a whole nation behind you, and you’re their voice. It’s truly a privilege.”[3]
