Novosilsky District

District in Oryol Oblast, Russia From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Novosilsky District (Russian: Новосильский райо́н) is an administrative^[1] and municipal^[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 778.3 square kilometers (300.5 sq mi).^[2] Its administrative center is the town of Novosil.^[1] Population: 8,561 (2010 Census);^[3] 10,591 (2002 census);^[6] 16,800 (1989 Soviet census).^[7] The population of Novosil accounts for 42.7% of the district's total population.^[3]
