Osceola "Ocie" Speer (1 Apr 1869 – 11 Apr 1959 ) was an American lawyer, jurist, and legal writer who wrote several books on social issues in the United States.[1]
He was born on April 1, 1869, near Alvarado, Texas.[1]
His parents were John Dennis Wesley Speer and Sarah Hunter "Sallie" Ellis Speer.[citation needed]
He got married to Annie F. Milner on December 13, 1891, and had five daughters with her.[1]
He died in Austin, Texas, on April 11, 1959, and is buried at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery in Texas.[1]
Education
He spent a year at the National Normal University in Lebanon, Ohio.[1]
After that, he was admitted into the bar in the year 1890.[1]
Career
In 1902, he was appointed associate justice of the Court of Civil Appeals in Fort Worth, Texas.[1]
In 1925, he joined the Commission of Appeals of the state Supreme Court.[1]
