Olaka Nwogu (born 26 January 1965) is a Nigerian Business Man, Civil Servant and Politician who was a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 until 2011 for People's Democratic Party. He represented the constituency of Tai–Eleme–Oyigbo.[1] Prior to being elected to the House, he served as Mayor (chairman) of Eleme local government area in Rivers State. In March 2015, he contested for the seat of Senator in the National Assembly and won by 408,353 votes, defeating incumbent Sen. Magnus Abe of the All Progressives Congress,[2] but later lost in the tribunal.[3]

In addition to his political career, Nwogu has also ventured into business. He is currently the Chairman and CEO of Landmark Hotel in D-line and Hinterland Construction Company in Eleme.[4]
Early life and education
Olaka Johnson Nwogu was born on 26 January 1965 in Rivers State, Nigeria.
He attended Stella Maris College, Port Harcourt, where he obtained his West African School Certificate. He later studied Marketing at the University of Port Harcourt and obtained a master's degree in Business Administration from the same institution..[5][6][7]
Career
Before entering elective politics, Olaka Johnson Nwogu was involved in business and public service. He served as Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State before his election to the Nigerian House of Representatives.
He also established business interests, including involvement in the hospitality and construction sectors.[8][9]
Political career
Olaka Johnson Nwogu began his political career in Rivers State, where he served as Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area before entering the National Assembly.
He was elected to the Nigerian House of Representatives in 1999 to represent Tai–Eleme–Oyigbo Federal Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in subsequent elections and served in the House of Representatives until 2011.
In 2015, Nwogu contested for the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat in the Nigerian Senate. He won the election but his victory was later challenged in court, and the result was nullified. He subsequently lost the re-run election.[10][11][12][13]
