Description
The genus is characterized by a "musculo-glandular posterior diverticulum of the atrium".[3]

Paraplanaria currently contains the following two species:
- Paraplanaria dactyligera (Kenk, 1935)
- Paraplanaria occulta (Kenk, 1969)
