History
Founded and incorporated in 2020 by Kristen Mariano and Eddie Ybanez, PasaJob uplifts the Filipino talent by offering an accessible job referral platform that connects employers, job seekers, and referrers.[3] It was initially launched as a stand-alone website and app in 2021.[4] However, user acquisition proved to be a challenge during this period.
PasaJob pursued strategic partnerships with organizations possessing extensive user networks to increase platform adoption. These collaborations were intended to enhance the supply side of its two-sided model by facilitating broader user engagement and participation across multiple sectors. In 2022, PasaJob partnered with the Philippine financial technology superapp GCash,[5] resulting in the September 2023 launch of “GJobs powered by PasaJob,”[6][7] aimed at making career and income opportunities available to millions of users nationwide.
As of the latest available data, the platform reported more than 3 million registered users, facilitating over 417,000 job applications[8] and generating approximately one million job referrals.[9]
Referral-based platform
PasaJob operates on the principle that employee referrals are an effective and economical recruitment method. Research indicates that 88% of employers consider referrals their preferred hiring strategy, while 82% regard them as providing the highest return on investment.[10] Employee referrals account for 26% of external hires and are associated with shorter recruitment times, reducing the average 42-day hiring process by up to 29 days.
Studies indicate that referred employees remain with companies about 70 percent longer than those hired through other channels. Approximately 69 percent of organizations maintain formal referral programs, reflecting the method’s prominence in recruitment practices. PasaJob employs this model through a digital platform designed to facilitate and scale employee referrals in the hiring process.
