Patrick Henry Winston Jr. (August 22, 1847 – April 3, 1904) was a lawyer and newspaper editor who served as Attorney General of Washington from 1897 to 1901.[1][2] According to one biography, "It is difificult to describe such a man or to give a satisfactory account of his career. His personality always outshone and dazzled his achievement."[2]

He came from a prominent North Carolina family; one of his brothers, Francis D. Winston, was United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.[1]
