Philipp Weiss (born 5 February 1982 in Vienna) is an Austrian writer and playwright. In September 2018, he published his critically acclaimed debut novel, Am Weltenrand sitzen die Menschen und lachen.

Weiss was born in Vienna in 1982. He studied German philology, philosophy and German as a foreign language at the University of Vienna. As a master's thesis, he wrote a deconstructivist essay on Peter Handke's A Sorrow Beyond Dreams with Wolfgang Müller-Funk [de].[1] After graduation, in 2008, he taught at the Baku State University in Azerbaijan. He currently lives and works in Vienna.[2]
