Pokrovsky District

District in Oryol Oblast, Russia From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pokrovsky District (Russian: Покро́вский райо́н) is an administrative^[1] and municipal^[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southeastern central part of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,411 square kilometers (545 sq mi).^{[citation needed]} Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Pokrovskoye.^[1] Population: 14,782 (2010 Census);^[2] 18,027 (2002 census);^[6] 20,056 (1989 Soviet census).^[7] The population of Pokrovskoye accounts for 30.0% of the district's total population.^[2]
