Poland made their World Championships debut in 1934 where the women's team won the bronze medal.[1] At the 1950 World Championships Helena Rakoczy became the first Polish world champion, winning gold in the all-around and on vault, balance beam, and floor exercise.[2] At the 1974 World Championships Andrzej Szajna won two bronze medals and became the first Polish male artistic gymnast to win a World Championships medal.[3]
