Pyas (Urdu: پیاس, lit. 'Thirst') is a 1989 Pakistani television series written by Asghar Nadeem Syed and produced and directed by Nusrat Thakur.[1][2][3] Broadcast on PTV, the series was received favourably in both Pakistan and India.[4][5]
The series follows Seema, a young woman who lives with her parents. Her father, Qadir Khan, is portrayed as severe in his treatment of her, while her mother, Taj Bibi, is depicted as gentle and supportive. The household is disrupted when Qadir takes a second wife, Shamshad, an event that strains his relationship with Seema; Taj Bibi, by contrast, comes to accept the marriage.[4]
