History
Originally established as Banque Nationale Société Générale in 1978,[4] with a stake held by the National Bank of Egypt.
In 2013, the QNB Group acquired a majority stake from Société Générale for US$2 billion.[5]
In 2024, as part of a strategic move to unify its global brand identity, the bank gradually phased out the "Al Ahli" name in Egypt, officially becoming QNB Egypt.[6]
In October 2025, the bank received authorization to launch its digital banking platform, ezbank.[7]
