Prior to the granting of its FM licence and subsequent launch on 23 September 2021, the station had been broadcasting exclusively online since 2013.[2]
In February 2023, Ofcom reported that Radio Scarborough had breached its licence conditions by failing to "deliver 84 hours of original output per week and locally-produced output at all times".[3]
