Robert Randolph Brinson (born 1957)[1] is a physician and Republican political activist. In 2003 Brinson founded Redeem the Vote, a Christian right voting advocacy organization. He is the president of the Christian Coalition of Alabama.
Brinson grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. As a teenager, he worked on the gubernatorial campaign of James B. Edwards, who became the first Republican to be elected governor of South Carolina since the Reconstruction era in the 1870s.[2] He attended Valdosta State College, where he met his wife, Pamela Bennett,[3] and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.[4]
In the 1980s, Brinson served in the United States Air Force, moving to Montgomery, Alabama to become staff gastroenterologist at Maxwell Air Force Base.[3] He went into private practice in the 1990s, advising Alabama governor Fob James on healthcare issues.[3]
He was named a fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association in 2013.[4]
