Rescuer (song)

Alex Warren first teased "Rescuer" on social media in mid-2026 with a 48-hour countdown, hinting at an early single release. His fans initially believed the teaser was for the Wildchild album, but Warren clarified that a new song was imminent. He announced via an Instagram video that "Rescuer" would be released earlier than planned, revealing that the song is about a girl (his future wife) who chose to sleep in his car with him when he was homeless.^[4] The single was released digitally on August 7, 2026. In interviews and posts, Warren explained that "Rescuer" is a tribute to his wife, Kouvr Annon, who he credits with saving him at his darkest moment.^[5]

"Rescuer" is the fourth single from Wildchild. Warren's announcement confirmed that "Rescuer" would appear as track 4 on Wildchild.^[1] The song was released through Atlantic Records, in advance of the album's release on August 28, 2026.^[6]

"Rescuer" is built around acoustic guitars, piano and strings, showcasing Warren's emotive vocal delivery. The lyrics are a heartfelt love-song narrative: Warren recounts how, as a teenager, his future wife chose to sleep in his car when they were both homeless, and how she later saved him. This framing makes the song a raw, personal ballad. As one report notes, the lyrics "appear to be about his wife Kouvr, who moved to be with him" after they met in such circumstances. Warren's own statement reflects this theme: "when I was at my absolute lowest, my now-wife Kouvr saved me... The official music video for "Rescuer" was directed by Andrew Donoho. It premiered on August 6, 2026, during a joint iHeartRadio/TikTok livestream event, one day before the single's release.^[2] In the video, Warren attends a lavish 17th-century–style ball and is initially turned away by a doorman; his wife Kouvr, dressed as a princess, then intervenes.^[9] The two enjoy a romantic interlude, but Warren is later beaten by the doorman. In the final scene, Kouvr finds the bruised Warren outside and comforts him and they kiss. Warren and his band shot the video in New York. The video has been made available via YouTube and other streaming platforms.^[5]

Warren performed "Rescuer" live before its official release. Notably, on July 17, 2026, he debuted the song at his sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. A setlist.fm write-up praised the live version as a concert highlight, noting its "memorable melodic cadence and lyrical themes". Warren reportedly introduced the song on the spot during an extended stage monologue about grief. The song was added to set lists for the remainder of the Finding Family on the Road tour.^[3]
