Robert M. Saltzman is an American lawyer and an academic. He is an Emeritus Professor of Lawyering Skills at the University of Southern California (USC) Gould School of Law.[1]

Saltzman's work is focused in legal and professional ethics; the law school learning process; politics and the legislative process; statutory interpretation; and disability-related issues. He served on the Los Angeles Police Commission, responsible for overseeing the L.A. Police Department (LAPD), where he was central to ending the LAPD's association with the Boy Scouts of America due to their discriminatory policies[2][3] and introducing the first LAPD policies regarding transgender individuals in 2012. In 2011, then-President Barack Obama selected him to join the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.[4]

Saltzman was awarded honors twice by the USC Law School Black Law Students' Association for fostering and supporting racial and ethnic diversity in student recruitment and for creating a "humane and meaningful academic environment."[5]

Saltzman earned an A.B. in Government from Dartmouth College in 1976. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 1979.[1]
