Rye is an unincorporated community in Manatee County, Florida. It was established as a fort during conflict with the Seminoles and developed into a community with orange groves, cattle ranching, and a Manatee River crossing after the conflict. The 530 acre Rye Preserve is nearby in Parrish, Florida and includes the Rye Family Cemetery.[2] There is a historical marker in the area commemorating the community's history.[3]
