Sabbir Nasir (born 24 October 1972) is a Bangladeshi singer, composer, songwriter.[1][2][3] He works on folk fusion, indie pop and blues music.

Nasir, born and raised in Khulna, attended Saint Joseph High School of the same district. He graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology BUET, studying Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering.[4] He also attended Institute of Business Administration ( IBA) where he attained his MBA. He also obtained Advanced Certificate for Executives on Technology, Innovation and Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017, Executive Program in General Management from MIT Sloan School of Management in 2017, Retail Forum for Senior Leaders from Harvard Business School, Executive Education in the year 2018. The Berkeley Program in Data Science and Analytics from UC Berkeley Haas School Of Management at Berkeley in 2018.[5]

Career

He started performing on stage at the age of 16. He was the vocalist and the lead guitarist of different bands. His last band, Metamorphosis published their first and last album in 1998.[6] From 1998 to 2018, Sabbir was out of the musical scene.

Nasir resumed singing again in 2018. Some of his folk and blues songs became popular among Bangladeshi and Indian audiences.[6][7] Some of his top Folk singles are "Binodini Rai" which is a duet song, sung along with Sampa Biswas from India, "Amare Dia Dilam Tomare", "Tumi Dome Dom" etc.[8][9][10] He got CJFB Award in 2020 for his Single "Horsho". He was recognized with Safekeeper Channel i Digital Award in 2021 for his song "Amare Dia Dilam Tomare".[11] In 2021, for his single "Adha" he won the bronze award in the Male singer category at the Global Music Awards program, organised by a California-based organisation.[12][13][14] His first English single "Drowning" was featured in various international magazines.[15][16][17][18][19]

He sang in the Playback in different films e.g. at "Daymukti" with Konal at Pritilota movie etc. This movie about the life of Pritilata Waddedar.[20] "Binodini Rai" sung by Sabbir Nasir and Kolkata-based singer Shampa Biswas broke all records on social media platforms with more than one crore views.[21]

Professional career

Sabbir Hasan Nasir is a Bangladeshi corporate executive who has worked in the retail, manufacturing and logistics sectors.[22]

Nasir began his professional career at Bata Shoe Limited.[23] He later gained international experience in Angola, working with IDE and Golfrate H & PC Limited, a licensee of multinational consumer goods companies including Unilever, Nestlé and Kraft. In 2003, he joined Golfrate H & PC Limited as Head of Operations and Marketing Manager, where he was involved in manufacturing and distribution activities serving the Angolan market.[24] In 2005, Nasir joined Tetra Pak South East Asia Private Limited, where he gained experience in a multinational corporate environment.[22]

OTOBI

Between 2006 and 2011, Nasir served as Chief Executive Officer of OTOBI Ltd., a Bangladeshi furniture manufacturer founded by artist and entrepreneur Nitun Kundu.[25] As CEO, he oversaw business operations, strategic planning, and organizational management.[26] During this period, the company expanded significantly, with its business reportedly growing from around ৳150 crore to approximately ৳550 crore over five years.[25]

ACI

In 2011, Nasir joined ACI Logistics Limited (Shwapno), the retail supermarket chain of ACI Limited, as Executive Director.[27] At the time of his joining, the company operated around 38 outlets and had an estimated business size of about ৳100 crore.[25]

During his tenure, the retail chain expanded across Bangladesh, growing to more than 800 outlets and developing into a retail business valued at approximately ৳4,000 crore.[28]

In May 2024, Nasir was appointed Managing Director of ACI Logistics Limited (Shwapno).[22]

In 2026, during his leadership at ACI Logistics Limited, the company entered into a strategic partnership with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to support the expansion and operational development of the Shwapno retail chain.[29][30]

During his tenure at ACI Logistics Limited (Shwapno), Sabbir Hasan Nasir was associated with several initiatives related to food safety and affordability in the retail sector.[31]

Under his leadership, the company introduced the “Shuddho” initiative to provide safe and traceable food products by working directly with farmers and producers while maintaining quality control across the supply chain.[32][33]

In 2024, Shwapno introduced a 160 Tk beef-potato combo as part of a low-cost food offering intended to make meal options more affordable for consumers, particularly targeting low- and middle-income groups.[34]
