Sajid Khan (born 3 September 1993) is a Pakistani cricketer who plays for Peshawar in domestic cricket. He made his international debut for the Pakistan cricket team in April 2021.[1]

Sajid's family hails from Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.[2] His father served in the Pakistan Army and died in 2003,[3] when Sajid and siblings were still young, pushing his mother to work as the breadwinner to support the family. He migrated to Dubai with a six-month visa for training, where he worked at an airport to earn some money, and was a member of the Peshawar team.[4][5][6] His part-time gigs to improve his family's financial circumstances included selling cellphones.[7]

Domestic career

Sajid Khan made his first-class debut for Peshawar in the 2016–17 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on 22 October 2016.[8] He made his List A debut on 20 January 2017 for Peshawar in the 2016–17 Regional One Day Cup.[9] He made his Twenty20 debut for Peshawar in the 2018–19 National T20 Cup on 11 December 2018.[10]

In January 2021, following the final of the 2020–21 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, he was named as the Best Bowler of the tournament.[11] He was the leading wicket-taker, claiming 67 wickets in 11 matches.[12] Later the same month, he was named in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's squad for the 2020–21 Pakistan Cup.[13][14]

In September 2022, Sajid Khan signed for Somerset for the remainder of the County Championship season.[15]
