Salim Ercan (born 10 March 1996) is a Turkish freestyle wrestler who competes in the 125 kg division. He won the silver medal in the men's freestyle 125 kg event at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games, the bronze medal at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, and the bronze medal at the 2022 Mediterranean Games.[1][2]

Career

Ercan has competed in freestyle wrestling for Turkey in the heavyweight divisions and has represented Çorum Belediyespor at domestic level.[1][3]

He won the bronze medal in the men's freestyle 125 kg event at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.[2] At the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, he reached the final of the 125 kg division and won the silver medal after losing to Iran's Seyed Mehdi Hashemi.[4]

At the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran, Ercan won the bronze medal in the men's freestyle 125 kg event. In the bronze-medal bout, he defeated Algeria's Mohamed Bilal Khelil by technical superiority.[3][5]

In March 2023, Ercan received a two-year suspension for whereabouts failures under anti-doping rules, effective from 23 March 2023 until 23 March 2025.[6]
