San Juan Tepezontes is a municipality in the La Paz department of El Salvador. Its name is a Hispanicization of a Nawat term meaning "many hills".[1] It was incorporated in 1945.[1] Its population as of 2004 was 3,269.[2]
The town was severely damaged by earthquakes in 1857[1] and twice again in January 2001 and in February 2001.[3]
