Section 3 of the Constitution of Australia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Section 3 of the Constitution of Australia deals with the salary of Governor General. The salary of Governor-General is paid from the Consolidated Revenue Fund and is regulated by the Constitution, which fixed the initial salary at £10,000, an amount that would not increase until 1974.[1]

Section 3 of the Constitution states :

There shall be payable to the Queen out of the Consolidated Revenue fund of the Commonwealth, for the salary of the Governor General, an annual sum which, until the Parliament otherwise provides, shall be ten thousand pounds. The salary of a Governor General shall not be altered during his continuance in office.[2]
