Shakarap

Shakarap (also spelt shakarob, Tajik: Шакароб;[1] achchiq-chuchuk, achuchuk[a]) is a simple salad originating from Central Asia,[2] which consists of thinly sliced tomatoes and onions, with salt and black pepper.[3] The salad is particularly popular in Tajikistan,[4] Uzbekistan,[5] and Kyrgyzstan.[2]

A variant of shakarap includes cucumbers.[4]

Serving

In Central Asia, shakarap is traditionally served with pilaf.[1]
