Shama Obaed Islam (née Obaed; born 14 May 1973)[1] is a Bangladeshi politician. She is the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Faridpur-2 constituency (Nagarkanda-Saltha) and the incumbent state minister of foreign affairs since February 2026.[2]

Obaed is one of the seven women elected in the 2026 Bangladeshi general election and one of the three women in the Tarique Ministry.[3][4]
Background
Shama Obaed's father, KM Obaidur Rahman, was the 4th Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and former minister.[4] Her mother, Shaheda Obaed, is a former chairperson of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka.[4]
Career
Obaed won the 2026 Bangladeshi general election contesting at the Faridpur-2 constituency securing 120,909 votes while her nearest rival of the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis candidate Shah Akram Ali received 87,956 votes.[5][6]
