Sharangsky District

Sharangsky District (Russian: Шара́нгский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the forty in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia.[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Sharangsky Municipal District.[4] It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,595.8 square kilometers (616.1 sq mi).[1] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Sharanga.[1] Population: 12,450 (2010 Census);[2] 13,743 (2002 census);[6] 14,985 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Sharanga accounts for 52.7% of the district's total population.[2]
