Sid Edwards

Emile "Sidward" Edwards is an American politician who is the mayor-president of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.[1] A Republican, he was elected mayor-president in a runoff election held on December 7, 2024, defeating incumbent Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.[2] He was sworn in on January 2, 2025.[3]

Political career
Edwards is a newcomer to the Louisiana political stage; at 61 years-old, he is known in the local community as the long-time head football coach and dean of students at Istrouma High School.[4]
