Sidewalk shed
Temporary structure installed over a sidewalk
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A sidewalk shed is a temporary structure or scaffold installed over a sidewalk. It is used to protect pedestrians from falling debris during the course of construction.[1] As of 2022, New York City contained more than 300 miles of sidewalk sheds.[2] Landlords may choose to leave sidewalk sheds up because it is cheaper than fixing issues with the facade of the building.[3]
