The building, then known as Sidney Public Library officially opened in 1917. It was the first public library in Cheyenne County upon its opening.[4] Following the opening of the current Sidney Public Library in 1966, the library closed and the building was repurposed for the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce.[5] The building was later added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 3, 1991.[2]
