Sivasagar Lake (Borpukhuri ) is situated in the heart of the Sivasagar city (Pron: /ˈsɪvəˌsʌɡər/ or /ˈʃɪvəˌsʌɡər/). ("the ocean of Shiva"), headquarters of the Sivasagar district Assam, India.[1] The town was named after the 200-year old Lake Sivasagar, which is considered a tourist attraction. This lake was built by Queen Ambika who was the wife of Ahom king Siva Singha. It lies about 360 kilometres (224 mi) northeast of Guwahati.[2][3]
