The Solomon Islands sent a delegation to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, from 13 to 29 August 2004. This was the nation's sixth appearance at a Summer Olympic Games since their debut in the 1984 Summer Olympics. The Solomon Islands sent two athletes to these games, both in track and field: Francis Manioru and Jenny Keni. Manioru competed in the men's 100 meters and Keni in the women's event of the same distance. Neither advanced out of their event's heats.
The National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands was recognized by the International Olympic Committee on 31 December 1982.[1] The Athens Games were their sixth straight appearance in the Summer Olympic Games since their debut in the 1984 Summer Olympics.[2] The Solomon Islands have never won a medal in Olympic competition.[2] The 2004 Summer Olympics were held from 13 to 29 August 2004; a total of 10,625 athletes participated, representing 201 National Olympic Committees.[3] The Solomon Islands sent two athletes to Athens, both in track and field: Francis Manioru and Jenny Keni.[4] Manioru was chosen as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony.[2]
