The church was founded in January 1954, with the first service held at Garfield Elementary School. Thirty-three residents and representatives from the sponsoring church, Trinity Methodist Church in Alexandria, attended the inaugural gathering.[2]

Construction of the first church unit began in 1955, and a second unit was completed in 1960. Over the years, the church has undergone several renovations. In 1974, the original building was remodeled, and air conditioning was installed. In 2000, the entire facility was modernized, including a full interior and exterior renovation and restoration of the pipe organ.[3]

The church remains active in community outreach, youth ministry, and interfaith activities, reflecting the United Methodist commitment to social justice, education, and service.
