Steven F. Angel is an American business executive, born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1955.
Angel began his career at General Electric, spending over two decades in various management positions.
From 2007 to 2018, Angel was the chairman, president, and CEO of Praxair. From 2018 to 2022, he was the CEO of Linde plc, overseeing the integration of Linde and Praxair.
In 2025, Steve was appointed to CEO of CSX Corporation, succeeding Joseph R. Hinrichs.
He is the Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors at GE Vernova, where he is a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee, and on the Board of Directors at GE Aerospace, where he chairs the Management Development and Compensation Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Stoke Space Technologies, and has previously served as director of PPG Industries, the Hydrogen Council, and the US-China Business Council, and as co-chair of the US-Brazil CEO Forum. He is also a graduate member of The Business Council, where he served on the executive committee.[1]
