Steve Staker

Steve Staker (May 28, 1943 – April 28, 2020), also known as Papa Stake,[1] was an American football coach. He was the head football coach at the Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 2008 to 2015.[2] He was awarded the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award for NCAA Division III in 2009.[3] He attended Upper Iowa University.[4]

Personal life and legacy

Staker was married to Linda King until his death in 2020. They had four children.[4] Staker died in April 2020 of gallbladder cancer in Lisbon, Iowa, at the age of 76.[2][5]
