Steve Wiitala (born January 27, 1942) is an Democratic teacher and politician from Nebraska who served as a member of the Nebraska Legislature from the 31st district from 1981 to 1983 and as Douglas County Election Commissioner from 1984 to 1987.

Wiitala was born in Oakland, California, and grew up in Frederick, South Dakota.[1][2] He attended Northern State College, where he received his bachelor's degree in history and was elected student body president.[2][3] Wiitala taught at Redfield High School in Redfield, South Dakota, from 1964 to 1965, and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he taught history at Westside High School from 1965 to 1983.[2][4]
