Engr. Suleiman Hussaini Adamu, FNSE, CONⓘ is a Nigerian Engineer and former Minister, Federal Ministry of Water Resources[1] under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.[2][3][4]

Early Life and Education
Suleiman Hussaini Adamu was born in April 1963 in Kaduna State, Nigeria. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1984, where he won the Nigerian Ports Authority Prize as the best graduating student in Civil Engineering. He later earned a Master of Science in Construction Project Management from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, in 2004.[5][6][7]
Career
Suleiman Hussaini Adamu is an engineer with experience in civil engineering, infrastructure development, and water resources management. He began his career in the public sector at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in 1985, where he worked on roads and bridges projects in Abuja. He later co-founded Integrated Engineering Associates (IEA), a civil engineering consultancy firm, and served as Principal Consultant with Afri-Projects Consortium, where he participated in major national infrastructure projects. He was appointed Minister of Water Resources of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, a position he held until 2023.[8][5]
Community impact
During his tenure as Minister of Water Resources from 2015 to 2023, Adamu oversaw programmes relating to water supply, sanitation, irrigation, and water infrastructure development. The ministry focused on completing ongoing water projects and implementing programmes such as the National WASH Action Plan.
Under Adamu's leadership, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources reported the completion of projects relating to water supply, irrigation, and hydropower infrastructure.[9][10][11]
Award and recognition
In 2020, Suleiman Hussein Adamu was awarded the 2020 global Award for Outstanding Contribution to WaterAid by His Royal Highness, Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales.[12]
