Production
Ahead of the season 50 premiere, CBS renewed Survivor for its fifty-first season on January 22, 2026.[3] A trailer was played at the Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans reunion, revealing that there will be two starting tribes, a first since Winners at War.[4]
Host Jeff Probst declared Survivor 51 to be the beginning of "the open era", meaning that "anything that's ever happened on Survivor" in past seasons, including twists and advantages, "can happen again — at any time, in any order, without warning."[5][2][6]
Contestants
The 21 castaways were officially announced on August 25, 2026. This is the first Survivor season to start with an odd number of castaways since Survivor: Fiji in 2007, the first season whose opening cast had a female majority (eleven women and ten men), and the first to start with a gender imbalance since Survivor: San Juan del Sur (which had ten men and eight women). Notable cast members this season include actor Devin Way, voice actress Ana Sani, and former WWE NXT wrestler Brady Booker.[7][8][9][10]
